POKOTABI / Kashunrō
華春楼
Explore the extensive menu at Kashunrō, a Chinese restaurant in Asakusa 2-chome, famed for its rich soy milk soup with crab and yuba, hearty noodles, stir-fries, and urn-aged Shaoxing wine.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Set along Kototoi-dori north of Senso-ji, Kashunrō is an unpretentious Chinese restaurant beloved for its extensive menu and welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. Among the various specialties, the standout is the crab and soy milk soup with yuba (蟹肉豆乳湯). The mellow, creamy soy milk broth brings out the savory depth of crab and tofu skin, earning a loyal following from regular diners who order it every visit.
Noodle and rice choices are equally plentiful, with accessible everyday bowls such as prawn noodle soup in a clear, salted broth and shredded pork noodle soup with zha cai, bamboo shoots, and komatsuna greens in light soy broth. The fragrant mixed fried rice features plump, fluffy grains, serving as a reliable companion alongside soups and noodles.
At lunchtime, generous set meals featuring stir-fried dishes like shredded beef with green peppers, fish-fragrant eggplant, and sweet and sour pork are served quickly, satisfying hearty appetites. In the evening, diners can relax over small plates such as century egg with tofu or chilled gizzard, accompanied by Tsingtao beer or urn-aged Shaoxing wine ordered by the decanter.
Spacious table seating comfortably accommodates solo diners dropping in for a quick bowl of noodles at noon as well as larger groups sharing multiple platters for dinner.
